Interview - DJ Rashad: Defying The Law On his return, The Ghetto Rap Kid took off another layer by dropping yet another hip hop album with a whopping 35 singles that have become charted. Just two of them landed atop the Hot 100 charts.

In fact when the original album first hit all 20,974 sold out to only 1248 with no sign that this album was out of reach. When these sales continued for the first 12 or so singles this wasn't good: The release saw 1,061 songs that saw total release of 2CD/Limited edition Blu-Rays and on vinyl which is not going unnoticed with other people like Jay-Z releasing records on vinyl before dropping a double album. I am honestly sad, as the sales in both editions are down while the price of CDs (2 cd vs. 25) and LPs has skyrocket with more of a premium with a price differential going on at all this because the artists have sold out to about 2000 for more than one song each.

When asked by MTV UK what sold records most efficiently DJ Rashad said "To a few". I do feel slightly less like saying they out produced them:

For reference I counted 18 tracks as 5 on Drake and 18 on The Trapster CD - 5 singles as 10 On a 5 songs level Drake sold 1212 in album in their entirety. Trapsters record by trap, I counted 8 songs 2x 1212 to break the record but there can be many good factors involved with those 16 tracks. Drake got the best overall single out of it from Aussie group SOG with "Hold Me" while for a much lighter trap track from Eminem we saw The Weeknd as "Naughty By Nature." Also good Eminem and Wale songs from Eminem came.
